Over the course of my time following the length of the famous River Nile, I never tired of watching the sun rise and set over that legendary body of water. It was and remains surreal.
This was taken on our return to our beautiful felucca from a visit to a nearby village. Although we had only spent two days on the boat, it had begun to feel like home. I wasn't enthusiastic about the cold nights, but the days taking a traditional Nile cruise more than made up for it. Although boats like this today are more of a tourist thing, they were, in their day, a staple plying the waters of the Nile, Egypt's first highway.
When I spotted the sun setting on the horizon, I had to stop to take in the landscape, which included the silhouettes of my fellow travelers. I loved the life the add to the scene, indistinct but unmistakably human.
