For such a short winter day on Capri, it was absolutely packed! Capri is more of a hill in the Mediterranean than anything. I don't think there's an inch of flat land on it. So, it's no exaggeration that our entire time seemed to be spent ascending as our goal was Villa Jovis, home to ancient Roman emperors. Where else would it be but the top?
We barely made it there with the help of a little old man who lived there. I'll never forget watching a sunset fit for ancient rulers and looking nervously at my watch wondering if we could possibly make it back to the harbor for the last ferry out. "You'll be fine, plenty of time," our laid-back Italian hero kept saying.
Sure enough, we had plenty of time to soak in the last rays of that short winter afternoon on Capri. And I've dreamed of seeing more sunsets on Capri every since.
