Artist's Description

Featuring one of the historic local churches in my small town. The last time I drove by it was in a poor state of repair which is usually a sign of a building on its way out. It was the only African American church that was considered an historic building when the city's downtown historic district was added to the National Register for Historic Places. In the application it was stated it was built around 1930. Given all that, I felt like it would make a pretty subject. On the right you can get a glimpse of the large old cemetery on Whiteline Street.
