When it comes to visual art, there are some people who are drawn to the details, the intricate pieces that make up the whole. There are others who seem to find the large scenes. i have always been a big scene sort of guy. When I look around me I see sweeping landscapes and street scenes. But every so often, my eyes are also drawn to the smaller details.

Although it's hard to call this door hardware simple or small! I was wandering down a street in Puebla, Mexico, when I spied this example of old world architecture. I'm guessing this is likely Spanish Colonial architecture, but I welcome someone educating me on the subject.

When I spotted the door, the building itself didn't leap out at me. Perhaps it would have in different light, but what did leap out at me was the rough wood door covered in ornate details.
