Description
There will always be something bitter sweet about this photo of the beautiful Opera de Paris at night. I don't think anyone else would get the bitter sweet part but me, but I stood here on my last night in Paris and took this, one of my final photos of Paris. I had not managed to get by here in daylight, but it's adazzling old building at night, and I love the life in front of it in this photo, the people in the cross-walk, the headlights and cars and scooters. I just get a real feeling for living in Paris looking at this photo.
You can pick up some much from one small moment, a city filled with beautiful architecture but very much a place that continues to be a center for so many French people who call it home. Oh Paris...
For those curious, this part of the Opera de Paris was completed in 1875 and is in the neo-baroque architectural style. It was the main stage for the Paris Opera until another larger building was completed in 1889.
