Description
I don't know how, but somehow, I had an image of this in my minds eye before I ever got to Egypt. What I didn't know was that I would be taking this photo from the back of a camel!
I know I must have missed on the itinerary that on day one in Aswan, we'd take a camel ride on the Sahara. It must have been there, but I had no memory of it. Whether that ride was planned for sunset or it just happened to be that way, I couldn't have asked for a better time to be there. Both for the experience itself, and of course, this photo.
I can't say I was entirely at ease on top of that camel, but when I looked to my right and saw those long shadows stretching across the Sahara, the only thing on my mind was to capture this amazing moment.
And it was then that I remember envisioning this very moment months before. How? I have no explanation. It's never happened to me before or since that I saw a picture so clearly before it occurred, but maybe there's some magic in the Sahara?
