Description
My decision to take a tour of Egypt that included two nights sleeping on a simple sailboat was one part what was available and one part adventure. Maybe two parts what was available and one part adventure actually! But the end result was truly an unforgettable part of my time traveling in Egypt. A Nile river cruise between Aswan and Luxor is fairly common, but doing it the old fashioned way using Feluccas, traditional sailboats, is less common. Most of the sailboats you see here beached in the late afternoon were only on day cruises from Aswan. Only a few boats stayed the night and slept beneath those ancient Egyptian stars!
And I still look back on these photos and it feels like an elaborate dream. Truly, if you or a friend of yours has been to Egypt, I suspect those words will echo. It was an amazing adventure through a gorgeous landscape, seeing ancient treasures and meeting incredible people. I would trade those nights on the Nile for nothing. Yes, it was as magical as my photo suggests!
