Sacre Coeur - Basilica Overlooking Paris Art Print

Sacre Coeur was one of those surprising places. I mean, I had heard of this incredible church before, but it was Notre Dame, a medieval cathedral I was most interested in seeing. And while Notre Dame did not disappoint, Sacre Coeur far exceeded my expectations.

Sacre Coeur is such an amazing piece of architecture with those amazing domes, and the basilica sits upon the highest hill in Paris, commanding a great view of the city and quite an enjoyable climb for a photographer. And as it turned out the place I was staying in Montmartre was practically at the foot of the steps leading up, up, up to the church.

At every landing, I would stop once more and take a new round of photos from various angles. The beautiful white travertine stone really pops against a blue sky doesn't it?

Built around the turn of the 20th century in the Romano-Byzantine style of architecture, I suspect Sacre Coeur will long be said in the same breath as many amazing European churches.

Life is full of happy surprises. After just over a decade working in the 9 to 5 cube world, I threw caution to the wind to follow my dreams of being a full time visual artist.
