My so far only experience with the beautiful landscape of Costa Rica was around New Years. It was clearly still the midst of a festive period, but there was a strong feeling of pura vida in the air, of life lived in the moment that seems to be beyond a date on the calendar.

That particular trip to Central America concentrated more on Nicaragua than Costa Rica but it whet my appetite to see more of the culture and people of Costa Rica and beyond. I still look back years later quite fondly on those days and nights.

This picture is based on one of my photographs from Liberia in Guanacaste Province. There was something about that rustic little building that seemed to transcend place. Pop a tin roof on it instead of tiles and it would have been quite at home anywhere in the southern US. The open windows spoke of a simpler way of life that at least in spirit many of us dream about.

Life is full of happy surprises. After just over a decade working in the 9 to 5 cube world, I threw caution to the wind to follow my dreams of being a full time visual artist. That was five years ago! Is it easy? No, but something truly worthwhile is rarely simple. My body of work is wide ranging from photographic scenes of far away places, more near and dear locations, and more fanciful artwork. It's all crafted with a heartfelt love for finding the beauty in little captured moments. My artwork also hangs on walls near and far from private homes to businesses who have chosen to decorate with my art.
