I visited the Vatican more than once during my trip to Rome. There really is more than enough to do there to fill several days. It's very much a matter of picking and choosing. But there was no question i was going to go to the top of the dome at St Peter's!
The views from the tops of old churches is usually phenomenal and St. Peter's Basilica was no disappointment! The view of St Peter's square alone is beautiful but getting to see the rest of the cityscape of Rome unfold before you is a chance to truly appreciate the Eternal City!
And you simply can't beat the aerial view short of a actually flying over Rome!
