Artist's Description
During my time in Galway, Ireland, I took many walks along the River Corrib from where it empties into Galway Bay up to a point just beyond the Salmon Weir. I've read that this is the bulk of that short river, apparently the shortest in all of Europe.
But what really floored me about the area beyond the Salmon Weir, where this photo was taken, was how remote it felt. It hardly felt like one was standing in the midst of a city at all.
And on this particular afternoon, when I reached the end of that walk, I was treated to quite a sight! Dusk comes a bit too early on a winter day in Northern Europe. The days are so short, but if there's light, it can be impressive nonetheless. This was the case this afternoon. Those deep dusk blue skies were streaked with clouds and it was all reflecting in those dark languid waters of the Corrib.
