Description
Even though the little village of Boscastle on the Cornish coast and my own home town were light years apart, there was a common tie that I felt the moment we arrived. There small town had survived a devastating flood four years before my visit. My own small town had been through the same a little more than a decade before. The scars were no longer glaring, but just knoing that made me feel a common connection as I walked the quaint streets of that little village so far from home.
It should be no surprise looking at the landscape that surrounds Boscastle and those charming cottages and shops that it's situated in a designated Area of Natural Beauty. And what a gorgeous day to experience some of that natural beauty in an old coastal fishing town in Cornwall. Years later, it's the story of the flood that I still identify with, but it's that postcard perfect beauty that still resonates with me when I look at this photo of Boscastle. One of a long line of places in Cornwall that I'd love to experience in greater depth some day. Isn't it apparent why?
