On my second visit to Edinburgh, I arrived in the wee hours of the morning and although I could leave my bags, I couldn't check in until the afternoon, so began my trek up Arthur's Seat in Holyrood Park for the first (and so far only) time. I'm not sure I was thinking entirely straight not having slept for over 24 hours, but the thrill of reaching the top of the high hill overlooking Edinburgh was positively electric!
If you've stood atop Arthur's Seat, you probably remember the climb as I do. It started out quite easy with nice walking paths but although nothing like climbing a mountain, the last leg was not nearly so pedestrian! In fact, with the wind pelting me, it felt all the harder to reach my goal at the top.
