Artist's Description

Although I was born in Andalusia, Alabama, I grew up in the neighboring state of Georgia. But A good number of family members attended "Old Main" on Third Avenue in Andalusia, including my mother. Some of my earliest childhood memories are in and around Andalusia and the local landmarks will always be familiar to me.

The current Andalusia High was built in 1939 but has a legacy that goes back over a century. There's a lot of local civic pride bound up in that old schoolhouse. In fact, this piece is based off photos I took on a visit I made with my Mother during homecoming several years ago and I was impressed that the the alumni who visit Andalusia High do so with the same strong school spirit that is often attached to a college!

About Mark Tisdale

Mark Tisdale

Life is full of happy surprises. After just over a decade working in the 9 to 5 cube world, I threw caution to the wind to follow my dreams of being a full time visual artist. That was five years ago! Is it easy? No, but something truly worthwhile is rarely simple. My body of work is wide ranging from photographic scenes of far away places, more near and dear locations, and more fanciful artwork. It's all crafted with a heartfelt love for finding the beauty in little captured moments. My artwork also hangs on walls near and far from private homes to businesses who have chosen to decorate with my art. Whether you've purchased one piece or a house full or you simply admire and share with your friends, your patronage of my art is...
