Artist's Description

Restored black and white photo showing the old Jefferson County Courthouse in downtown Birmingham. This is Birmingham's 3rd Avenue North as it looked circa 1906. The old courthouse was constructed in 1888 in the Romanesque Revival style of architecture.

It was replaced in 1931 by the current courthouse and pulled down in 1937. A parking lot stood here until the construction of One Concord Center in 2002. The 200 foot high clock tower was for a time the tallest building in the city and was considered Birmingham's first high rise structure.

The original photo was published by the Detroit Publishing Company and has been personally restored to retain the beautiful old style while bringing all the crisp architectural details back into focus once more.

About Mark Tisdale

Mark Tisdale

Life is full of happy surprises. After just over a decade working in the 9 to 5 cube world, I threw caution to the wind to follow my dreams of being a full time visual artist. That was five years ago! Is it easy? No, but something truly worthwhile is rarely simple. My body of work is wide ranging from photographic scenes of far away places, more near and dear locations, and more fanciful artwork. It's all crafted with a heartfelt love for finding the beauty in little captured moments. My artwork also hangs on walls near and far from private homes to businesses who have chosen to decorate with my art. Whether you've purchased one piece or a house full or you simply admire and share with your friends, your patronage of my art is...
