Description
There are parts of Roswell, Georgia, that feel unchanged - as if the world outside didn't exist. The old Smith Plantation house is an example. No doubt in part because the home stayed in one family for generations from its construction in the 1840's until it was sold to the city of Roswell in the 1980's to be used as a museum. Considering its age and state of preservation, it's not surprising that this old home is on the National Register of Historic Places. Designed by Denny Gentry, I've seen the style described as both Georgian and Vernacular. Certainly I see the Georgian symmetry in there.
