Description
I've seen so many old railroad depots and train stations that have fallen to ruin. Never mind the number that were long since demolished to make way for our changing cities. The ones like the one in Montezuma that have been preserved and remain in their original communities are little treasures!
Montezuma's old train depot was built in the Queen Anne style in 1890 to replace an earlier one on the same site. This classic little piece of Americana was not always so well looked after. Like many old buildings that have lost their function, it foundered for years before being renovated to serve as Macon County's museum. Every time I look at it, I'm happy to see it looking much as it may have a hundred years ago when it was a hub of transportation for the area.
The old depot is so timeless that I've chosen to give this particular piece a textured vintage appearance, almost like an old postcard or some other piece of art that has weathered the years.
