I've said it many times, but what I love about London is that it's not a living history museum. There are probably a handful of cities around the world where you can see the remnants of two thousand year old walls, Medieval Construction, and modern architecture all rubbing shoulders together. There's a eclecticism to this mixture of old and new that I personally find immensely pleasing, and I'm sure there are a good many out there who feel the same about this great city.
In this print, you can get a taste of that range of architecture. Taken from the south bank of the Thames in a moment of fantastic light, you see the Millennium Bridge (also known as the Wobbly Bridge to locals) connecting the north and south sides of the river. On the north side rising above the skyline is the dome of St. Paul's Cathedral, built by the famous architecture Christopher Wren following the Great Fire of 1666. Do you think Wren could have possibly imagined this modern bridge one day leading our eye to his beautiful church?
