Snatched from a drive up the California coast several years ago. The "cave mouth" is actually a natural arch in a little secluded beach known as Shark Fin Cove. The walk down alone was magnificent, but the natural raw beauty of the cove unforgettable! I can still hear the thundering waves and smell the salt air of the California coast years later. Sigh!
I think what makes this one magical for me at least is that there's an ambiguity to the scene. Are you in a cave looking out, or at the mouth of a cave looking in? Maybe that's a magical kingdom that lies beyond a portal? Maybe I've read about too many magical wardrobes in my day, but it makes life more fun.
Somewhere on the California coast, there's a magician's cave waiting for my return...
