Description
The first time I laid eyes on the famous Louvre museum was during night walk along the famous River Seine. I had already seen some fabulous buildings, and the first sighting of this landmark building was not so obvious to me as I would have liked. It was about the time I got to this point on that night that I knew for a fact I was staring at the Louvre, former palace of kings and emperors of France.
It is rather more obvious from this vantage point, don't you think?
At any rate, it's an amazingly massive and beautiful building. The architecture is unquestionably French even though it runs across many style from French Gothic to Baroque. Even with all those styles, it feels very cohesive to me, one massive and beautiful building which houses an unimaginable treasure trove of art.
Ah, but this photo. This is the Louvre on a beautiful winter day. The sun is out, the skies are just perfect, and even the waters of the Seine are doing their part. I love the blues and golds reflected in the waters of that wide river. Winter in Europe can be fabulous!
