Description
On my second trip to Merida, with no particular plans and having hit the highlights, I proceeded on a long aimless wander that took me out of the city's historic core. It's always fun to get a peek at everyday life in another part of the world.
And it's funny how easy I can imagine myself into those places. The first thing I thought when I saw this little yellow house on a random street in Merida was how nicely I could fix it up. Clearly a little crestfallen and the yard overgrown, but look at those nice simple lines! I'm no architecture major, but my first thought was this looked like a 1930's re-imagining of Spanish Colonial architecture. It has details that remind me of the colonial homes in Merida's core, but with a public facing yard instead of a courtyard and the wall just has that 30's feel to me in its lines and patterns.
Couldn't you imagine life in this little yellow house in Mexico beneath the big palm trees enjoying a tropical breeze at night? I can!
