Description
Although there was a beach much closer to Merida, I have never regretted the day trip I took instead to the gulf coast at Celestun in the Yucatan state of Mexico.
The sleepy seaside town of Celestun in the midst of a wildlife preserve looked charming, but the order of my day was enjoyed on the water seeing the sights along the Yucatan coast.
I traveled in a little boat not unlike the one seen here preparing for adventures on the sea! I captured this picture just before boarding another boat. It was as fun as it looks. The sea seemed limitless and the time gliding across those gulf waters seemed everlasting in the most positive way possible.
And wasn't the tropical water off the scale in colors? Wow...
