Artist's Description

There's something of the fanciful in my naming of this picture of a little red house in Salem. I don't actually know that it ever belonged to a fisherman, but it being situated right at the end of the street near harbor made me feel it must have had a nautical nature about it at some point. You can even see the masts of modern sailboats reaching into the sky beyond that little red house.

What called me down the street, though, wasn't just the rich red tones but the great texture in the peeling paint. There's just something about peeling paint that speaks of history to me, the passage of time. And then my mind starts imagining the past of the house, the people, like my imaginary fisherman, who once dwelled there.

If anybody has a real history of this little red building, I'd love to hear it, but until then, it remains the fisherman's red house at the end of a little lane in New England. I like fanciful.

About Mark E Tisdale

Mark E Tisdale

Life is full of happy surprises. After just over a decade working in the 9 to 5 cube world, I threw caution to the wind to follow my dreams of being a full time visual artist. That was five years ago! Is it easy? No, but something truly worthwhile is rarely simple. My body of work is wide ranging from photographic scenes of far away places, more near and dear locations, and more fanciful artwork. It's all crafted with a heartfelt love for finding the beauty in little captured moments. My artwork also hangs on walls near and far from private homes to businesses who have chosen to decorate with my art. Whether you've purchased one piece or a house full or you simply admire and share with your friends, your patronage of my art is...
