Description
Paris is just one beautiful vista after another. Forgetting even for a moment the rest of the city, I've no doubt that I could walk along the Seine day after day and always find something new, some aesthetically pleasing view to take in.
And over my few days there, I did that over and over, walked along the Seine for at least some portion of my day. This is one of those pleasant moments I captured, the view across Le Pont Royal towards a portion of the Louvre.
This is the Pavillon de Flore which today houses L'Ecole du Louvre. It's a 17th century extension to the original Louvre than used to connect it to the Palais des Tuileries, now gone. It was remodeled in the Neo-Baroque style of architecture during the reign of Napoleon III.
Yes, I think every beautiful vista in Paris probably also comes with a mini-history lesson. There's a reason the banks of the Seine from Notre Dame to the Eiffel Tower are a UNESCO designated World Heritage Site, eh?
