Description
I spent several days of my Irish trip on Inis Mor, the largest of the Aran Islands. But without a doubt, the first day was one of the sunniest I saw there. The golden light against the winter blue skies above this Irish cottage were really striking to me. I was bound for a cliff view I had read about, but I had to stop here awhile and take photos of this beautiful little home in this amazing and rugged landscape.
My mind still returns to this cottage on the Aran Islands as I remember the following days of wind and rain sweeping across this tiny piece of land on the Irish coast. As you can tell in this photo, the landscape is quite rocky. I've read that the people who settled here had to haul seaweed up from the coast to make any arable land at all. What perseverance! But to sit in my own little cottage by the hearth listening to a storm wash over... I think it would be well worth it.
It was frustrating at the time knowing my time there was slipping through my fingers, but maybe it's the romantic in me thinking it would be a much different state of affairs to call this beautiful place home.
