Description
My first night in Paris was the first of many walks, both day and night, along the historic Seine. The stretch of the river from the Louvre to the Eiffel Tower is designated by UNESCO as a world heritage site.
When I stood on the Pont des Arts to take this night photo, I had no idea what this building was. I just adored the glowing lights and the beautiful French architecture.I love the people in motion, the feeling of being in Paris at night, surrounded by yet apart from others int he darkness.
It was only later that I discovered this beautiful 17th century building is the Institut de France. Originally built as the College des Quatre-Nations, it became the center of French academia, directly across the river from the Louvre, a center for art. It seems balanced to me, how about you?
