Golden Streets of Mexico Framed Print

On the last afternoon of my first trip to Merida, I managed to get one final wander through the streets of the city. And for its farewell performance, the afternoon Yucatan sun was really marvelous. Everything was washed in a warm gold that really intensified the already bright colors of a Mexican Street scene.

This otherwise generic corner in the city epitomizes the Mexico I remember I know there are cities in Mexico with towering skyscrapers and a far more urban feel, but like small town America, the rest of Mexico has a flavor of its own. Merida could hardly be called a small town, but it's downtown core retains the feel of old Mexico, long square blocks of mixed shops and houses, all painted cheerful Mediterranean colors.
