Description
Years ago, I was visiting London in the spring and took a day out with a group heading to Canterbury. While I was talking to the lady next to me, I suddenly caught the most vivid golden color out the train windows. I stopped mid-sentence and stared out the windows. The English countryside glowing gold is still one of those fragments of a memory from that trip that has never escaped me. It was just breath-taking.
I didn't manage to get to my camera before those fleeting fields of gold had passed but I had to find out what they were. It turned out this was Rapeseed which is apparently related to Canola, a cultivar more common in the US but despite growing up in a rural setting, I had never seen anything like those glowing golden English fields that morning on the way to Canterbury.
