Description
It's the plight of so many small towns in America to watch their past tumble down. This old Cotton Warehouse in Byromville, Georgia, is probably in better shape than many of the old warehouses I've seen.
Once upon a time, the loading docks on this old cotton warehouse were probably a hub of activity in the fall when the cotton harvest came in. These days, it's an empty ghost of the past. There's still cotton in those fields, but as mechanization of farms has continued and transportation has gotten easier, the little hubs have faded into the sunset and taken a lot of small towns with them.
Still you can look at that brickwork and tell a lot of care and pride were taken in its construction. It was meant to be there for a long time! And even in its forlorn state, there's a beauty in that fading echo of the past in the south Georgia landscape of Byromville.
