Description
When I spotted the dome to the Four Courts further up the River Liffey, I had to walk there for a better look. There's just something to me about that dome that is unique. It's a bit different in shape isn't it? Since then every time I've seen it on any television program, I've immediately known I was seeing the lovely city of Dublin, Ireland.
Like many of the government buildings in Dublin, this lovely old neoclassical building bears the scars of the Irish revolt from the United Kingdom. Sadly it was bombed and a thousand years of records pertaining to Irish history were lost in the fire. After the Irish gained their independence, though, the building was rebuilt. I've read that from the exterior it's entirely faithful to the original 18th century building, but the interior was built to serve its purpose as the seat of the modern Irish courts.
