The Fabulous Fox on Peachtree Street was an unquestioned part of a series of photos I took of Iconic Atlanta. In fact, it features multiple times over.
The Fox is one of a dying breed of elaborate move theaters that bordered on true palaces. Built in the late 1920's, the Fox's heyday seemed long over by the 1970's. And it occupied prime real estate in Midtown Atlanta.It looked like the wrecking ball was a sure thing but the local citizens drew a line in the sand and saved the Fox! Thank goodness for citizen activists!
Today the Fox is a restored landmark and a cultural hub of the community and that beautiful old marquee is sure to hang around for more generations no matter how the city around it changes!
