Description
When I lived in Atlanta, the Variety Playhouse was a staple of the music scene in Atlanta. It was in the heart of Atlanta's original bohemian neighborhood, Little Five Points - right smack on Euclid Avenue.
The Variety Playhouse began its long life as a neighborhood movie theater in 1940. It was known then as the Euclid Theatre. It apparently sat empty from the 1960's until the 1980s when it was reborn as a musical venue.
I only had the pleasure of seeing a few acts at the Variety in my time, but I loved its art deco architecture! Don't you?
Maybe you have your own happy memories of nights spent at this Atlanta landmark?
