Description
There are some things about the Atlanta area I won't ever forget, and the massive King and Queen Towers on the top end perimeter are definitely up there. I passed them daily on my way up Georgia 400 for several years, but that's a story so many of us shared.
For me, they became prey. The views from Georgia 400 and I-285 were iconic, but you couldn't exactly hop out of the car to take a picture. I spent many a weekend wandering the side streets of Sandy Springs and Dunwoody hunting for that perfect spot. I found many lovely vistas - most of them I couldn't locate a second time, I fear!
I wish I had done more night shoots but I rarely had the opportunity, but this piece of photo art is based off one of those nights when I did manage to find a spot to capture those glowing towers reaching into the dark night sky.
For those not from the Atlanta area, these are officially Concourse 1 and 2 Towers, the last I heard still the largest skyscrapers in a suburban setting in the US. They literally tower over most of their surroundings. Despite their actual names, every one in Atlanta knows them as the King and Queen because of the ornamental tops you see here, shaped like their namesake chess pieces. Particularly apparent glowing in the night sky!
