Artist's Description
This artwork was based on a 1937 black and white photo of the Empire State Building at night. That old view of New York City from long ago was my inspiration to create this rainy view of the city with brooding skies and a generally misty feeling.
Manhattan today is still recognizable but of course there are many more skyscrapers on the skyline today. But in 1937, the Empire State Building was only 6 years old so this is not unlike a time machine view of a younger city than today.
