Description
This vintage postcard view of the Empire Building in historic Birmingham, Alabama is over a century old. It was originally published by the Post Card Exchange Publishers of Birmingham which was in business publishing postcards from 1909 to 1919.
I restored this view of the Empire Building from multiple vintage postcards which was necessary to get a complete picture. Even then I had to repair damage from the worn postcards while trying to retain the vintage color and charm of the original.
The Empire Building is also known as the City National Bank Building. It stood empty for years but was recently renovated into a luxury hotel and reopened under the name the Elyton Hotel.
See tisdaleart.com for more of my restored vintage artwork as well as art of my own.
Note that the original postcards are halftone color printing. Every card I purchased to use in this restoration had some wear and dirt distorting the original halftone pattern. This restoration has been as faithful as possible to the idea of the original postcard but is not 100% identical.
