Artist's Description

Anyone who has even meandered through my artwork from my trips to Britain knows that I am truly infatuated with those iconic old British phone boxes. Nothing says Britain quite so loudly, I think. After all, outside of the UK, you seem most likely to find them in or near a British pub. That's pretty iconic!

So, it goes without saying, I took multiple photos of those phone booths on the Royal Mile in Scotland. I loved the mixture of those classic though comparably modern lines of the phone booth with the architecture of the old High Street in Edinburgh. After all, the Royal Mile in Edinburgh is the "Old Town" a place where the architecture stretches back to medieval times in places. It just has a classic old world feel to it, doesn't it?

I particularly like that this picture captures the rise of the Royal Mile. Anyone who has walked from the bottom at Holyrood to the top at Edinburgh Castle knows it's uphill all the way! One is never quite on flat ground on the streets...

About Mark Tisdale

Mark Tisdale

Life is full of happy surprises. After just over a decade working in the 9 to 5 cube world, I threw caution to the wind to follow my dreams of being a full time visual artist. That was five years ago! Is it easy? No, but something truly worthwhile is rarely simple. My body of work is wide ranging from photographic scenes of far away places, more near and dear locations, and more fanciful artwork. It's all crafted with a heartfelt love for finding the beauty in little captured moments. My artwork also hangs on walls near and far from private homes to businesses who have chosen to decorate with my art. Whether you've purchased one piece or a house full or you simply admire and share with your friends, your patronage of my art is...
