Description
There's just something lonely and poetic to me about old train stations in the American countryside. Often, they're one of the few signs of some small towns that have all but faded from the map.
The small town of Lilly, Georgia, hasn't quite faded entirely from the map, but it's old Atlanta, Birmingham & Atlantic Railroad depot is clearly an echo of a more prosperous time in the past of this small town in Dooly County.
I've wandered around this depot on multiple occasions over the years. There's something about this old depot that speaks to me. Maybe it's simply the vintage architecture? I'm honestly not sure, but I have felt drawn to capture it, to try to preserve some small piece of this example of Fading Americana.
