Artist's Description

In two trips to Merida so far, I've yet to figure out when or if things actually close at night. Granted, I don't stay out too terribly late, but even heading back for the night, there was still a maitre'de waiting to seat people at these al fresco seats at a restaurant.

The city lights and the row of tables disappearing into the distance leaped out at me as I was passing this spot. I love the combination of lights and patterns disappearing into the darkness. And it reminds me of the cool night air in the Yucatan washing over me. Even now I want to go back and take a seat at one of those tables and have a meal! Doesn't it look inviting?
