Description
There's something timeless about visiting places like Colonial Williamsburg where one can capture moments like this. As soon as I saw the Fifes and Drums coming down the street, I knew I wanted to try to capture an image that felt as if it could have come from the pages of an American History book.
Even without the classic street-scape and architecture of Colonial Williamsburg as a back drop, I would have been attracted by their bright costumes as the reenactors came down the street. Those red coats look hot but they sure look sharp, don't they?
One of my personal favorite parts of this image is that little shadow in the foreground. I love how it frames the band in a mid-ground between the shadows and the dappled shadows along the historic buildings on the opposite side. There's a real sense of balance I feel would have been lost otherwise.
But the biggest appeal I find in this image is still the timeless vintage feel to this photo-art piece. Was it photographed in the 21st century or illustrated in the 18th?
