Description
While I would love to see Notre Dame de Paris in the summer some day, it was every bit as beautiful as I expected even on a winter day. Strike that, it was more beautiful than I expected. After all, it is the epitome of French Gothic architecture, flying buttresses and all!
As I stood on the other side of the Seine admiring the beautiful lines of the medieval church at the heart of Paris, I knew I had to construct a panorama of it, to really take in the full scene from this spot. The result was beautiful, but the longer I looked at it, the more I wanted to create a vintage painterly feeling which lead me to texture this image. The results feel like an old Parisian print, I think.
Ah, and winter... wow... I'm reminded looking at this at what I was told on a tour outside Westminster Abbey several winters before. There's architectural details you can only see in winter when the trees have dropped their leaves, and clearly the same is true of this church. This view would no doubt be lovely in summer, but if you wanted to see the bones of this old church, if your interest was architecture, this is your picture to enjoy it!
