Artist's Description

A late afternoon stroll across the Brooklyn Bridge eventually dumped my friends and I on this little pier where we had ice cream and watched the sun set on Manhattan.

I had no idea until later that this warm and inviting spot is actually historic. It was here at Fulton Ferry in 1776 that then General Washington was present as his men evacuated after defeat at Long Island. There's nothing to see about that history, though, but I loved the warm light hitting the brick buildings and the charming building that looks like a lighthouse but is a 1930's Fireboat house. Fireboats were launched from this site.

Obviously, I have edited this image. I took the warm light as my cue and created a weathered vintage feel that took advantage of those golden tones. Primarily, though, it's a golden memory of a late afternoon in Brooklyn, maybe you had one, too?

About Mark E Tisdale

Mark E Tisdale

Life is full of happy surprises. After just over a decade working in the 9 to 5 cube world, I threw caution to the wind to follow my dreams of being a full time visual artist. That was five years ago! Is it easy? No, but something truly worthwhile is rarely simple. My body of work is wide ranging from photographic scenes of far away places, more near and dear locations, and more fanciful artwork. It's all crafted with a heartfelt love for finding the beauty in little captured moments. My artwork also hangs on walls near and far from private homes to businesses who have chosen to decorate with my art. Whether you've purchased one piece or a house full or you simply admire and share with your friends, your patronage of my art is...
