Description
There's an incredible amount of near-chance if not outright serendipity in photography. I was standing on the Brooklyn Bridge on an incredibly beautiful late-summer afternoon taking photos of this incredible historic landmark. Despite the number of people on the bridge with me, it as fairly quiet when I suddenly heard a very rhythmic sound. I turned to see guys skateboarding along the bridge. I stood to the side and lined up everything in the frame except of course for the skateboarders.
It sounds like I had a ton of time when you read the description, but it was all really fast. I managed to get one snap before the first guy, pictured, and another had passed the mark where I wanted them for this photo.
And this is what I mean by near-chance. This was down to quick reactions not just a complete stroke of luck, but who knows how long I would have had to have waited for this to happen again?
As you can tell, I decided to take this picture into a painterly direction. I love the emphasis this puts on the color and the form of the image.
