For me, this particular sunset will always have a special personal meaning. It was on my New Year trip through Costa Rica and Nicaragua that I began to really ponder how I could shake up my life and do something I loved.
This Pacific Sunset is a work in beautiful simplicity. There are a lot of silhouettes between the people on the beach and the boats on the water, but otherwise, it's a story of colors, of blue water mixing with the orange sky. The humans in the scene become a part of the greater tableau. I love how some are clearly stopping to watch the sunset while others are heading off, probably to get ready for their evening festivities ringing in the new year ahead.
Months after I took this photo, my personal 2009 was a new beginning, one where I traveled and concentrated on my art. Like Frost's proverbial two paths in the woods, the path I chose has made all the difference and I hope that hopeful future translates to the viewer of this beautiful sunset silhouette from a little beach in Nicaragua.
It may seem a little odd to refer to a sunset as a bright new day or future, but remember, every ending is a new beginning.
