The experience of riding in a Classic Black Cab is high on the list for many visiting the city. They may not be exactly as old as the iconic architecture of London but they are just as much ingrained in our collective conscience. It's hard to imagine the streets of London without them but they are fast becoming a novelty as the times and needs of the city have changed in the 21st century.
This nostalgic piece captures the spirit of those London black cabs with a collage of old city maps and the iconic form of Tower Bridge looming over head. Although I've read that the London Taxi drivers didn't need maps. As an occupation that began before the age of GPS and Sat-Nav, part of their training was memorizing the layout of the city. And if you've walked or ridden the streets of London, you know what a feat that is!
