Artist's Description

While I liked San Cristobal De Las Casas in general, there was just something about this little street corner that caught my eyes. I'm not sure if it was the cheerful golden yellow tones of the shop on the corner or simply down to the brilliant light that it was bathed in? Perhaps it was the architecture that I can't quite describe. It has a definite Colonial Mexican feel to it, but at the same time there are elements of those eves that remind me of photos I've seen from cities in Northern Europe? Perhaps there is a lot of cultural heritage to this little corner of Chiapas?

But I also loved the late afternoon shadows that were literally pointing towards that corner, so maybe it was the sum of all those things?

As I stood there, taking a long series of photos to document this little golden moment in San Cristobal De Las Casas, I heard the guy on the bike up up the street, and I decided that was just the moment of action that would give an extra layer of local life to t...
