On the way back to my own hotel my last night in Merida, I stumbled across this beautiful old hotel entrance. I loved the decorative glass awning over the front door, particularly how the Hotel's name was spelled out in the individual panels.
It appeared the old hotel was shuttered but there was still so much elegance to it and the city lights at night really made the glass sign shine, don't you think?
The wild exaggerated lines and the texturing technique I applied to this image take it to a different level for me. It exaggerates and celebrates the old architecture at the same time. And it reminds me of Merida, parts of which have a real old world European feel. Wouldn't this Hotel sign be just as at home on the streets of a European city?
