It's funny how sometimes the places we visit turn out to be more than we expected. Reading about Sorrento before I went there, it sounded a bit on the touristy side for me, but it's easy access to Pompeii and Herculaneum and other sites along the Amalfi coast lured me there anyway.
As it turns out Sorrento is a tourist destination for a reason, it's a gorgeous place hugging the seaside cliffs of the Italian coast along the Bay of Naples.
This is based on a photo of my last full day in Sorrento. We had taken the long walk down to the harbor to catch a ferry in the early morning. After reaching the bottom, I looked back up and was amazed by the beautiful view! The morning light was perfect and the beautiful old hotels hugging the edge of the cliffs beyond memorable. This is an image of my time in Sorrento that has and will stick with me for a long time.
I'm not sure about all the buildings in this photo but the hotel perched on the top is the Grand Hotel Exce...
