Description
This is a photo print of the beautiful Louvre Museum. I took this on my first evening in Paris in late January. It was also the first of many, many strolls along the Seine between Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower. This stretch of river is part of a UNESCO designated world heritage site. And it's not an exagerration to say that the walk is literally filled with beautiful and historic architecture. So much to the point that when I stood here to take this photo of the city lights, I had no idea this as the Louvre! There was just so many beautiful old buildings.
Now, I realized it shortly after when I saw the fabulous courtyard of this landmark museum, but it still amazes me that I had no idea at the time!
The bridge is beautiful and historic as well. The Pont des Arts linking the left and right banks of the Seine was the first iron bridge in Paris. What you see now is a faithful reconstruction after the original faced structural failure in the late 20th century.
Don't the lights lead so perfectly to the great facade of the Louvre Museum? If you've walked this part of the Seine at night or dream of it, this may be the image for you. It definitely reminds me of a beautiful night in the city of light!
