Description
I've begun to think that there was some subconscious reason that most of my photos from Puebla seem to feature local dining? Was I starving? Or is the historic city center literally jammed with picturesque restaurants?
I'm not sure, but when I took this photo of the Pozoleria Matmoros in the Centro Historico of Puebla, what I do remember liking most was the beautiful soft blue of that grand building against the bright blue sky. Puebla seemed rich in pretty architecture that ran the gamut from obviously colonial to buildings like this that I would peg as being much later but still quite European.
I've found that to be true of a lot of older Mexican towns, that there were always aspirations to be the next Paris or Rome, to have the newest and grandest architecture in their own hometown. It doesn't quite fit with the image of old adobe buildings that many of us have of Mexico, but it illustrates how alike we all are, all with aspirations from individuals to collective entities like cities.
At any rate, I like this photo whether ti's for the pretty blue building or the idea of having authentic pozole for lunch in the heart of Puebla.
