The High Museum of Art on Peachtree Street in Atlanta definitely deserves acknowledgement as a cultural landmark in Georgia. Long before I called Atlanta my place of residence, I had roamed the halls of The High and experienced the art on show there.
The history of The High Museum is longer than the current building, built in the 1980s, but it's certainly an unforgettable piece of architecture isn't it? That's one of the things I love about black and white, that it strips down a scene to the more graphic elements. And the modern lines of The High are well suited.
How many buildings thirty years on still look fresh and forward-looking? The High does, that's for sure! I've seen its architecture described as both Modern and Postmodern. Under either label, it's a definitely a landmark piece of modern Atlanta.
